Torleif Thedéen

Torleif Thedéen made a sensational entrance into the musical world when, in 1985, he won three of the most prestigious cello competitions in a row: the Hammer-Rostropovitch competition, the Pablo-Casals competition and the European Broadcasting Union’s International Tribune. Following this success, he has since performed on most of the major classical stages. He is regularly invited to perform as a soloist by the most renowned orchestras and under the baton of most demanding conductors, and also continues to be an active chamber musician. He taught at the Copenhagen Conservatory of Music from 1992 to 1996 before being appointed a Professor at the Edsberg Music Institute in Stockholm where he has taught since 1996.

Torleif Thedéen plays a David Techler cello from 1711.
