José-Daniel Castellon

France

Flute

José-Daniel Castellon’s musical activity has always been diverse. He regularly plays as a soloist with orchestras, maintaining a privileged relationship with the ensemble “Le Concert Européen”. In recent years his solo performances have taken him from Seoul to Irkutsk, passing through the mythical Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow where he performed Mozart’s Concerto in G Major with the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie conducted by Nicolas Chalvin. He is particularly fond of chamber music and its notion of collaboration, moving happily from the early music he plays on a Chris Abell wooden flute to contemporary music (works by C. Ballif, O. Haugland, J. Dorival, etc).

His highly appreciated Masterclasses make him a regular guest at some of the world’s most prestigious music academies. His passion for pedagogy has led him to teach at the Conservatoire de Lyon and at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne, where he still teaches currently.
