Gérard Métrailler won 2nd prize at the Concours International de Genève in 1987, 2nd prize at the Concours Maurice André in Paris in 1988, and a bronze medal at the Festival International de Jeunes Solistes de Bordeaux in 1990.
His repertoire includes the great concertos (Haydn, Hummel, Tomasi) and places an important emphasis on Swiss composers (Hindemith, Zbinden, Schmidt). He also performs pieces for trumpet and chamber orchestra and organ (Albinoni, Bach, Tartini, Vivaldi).
He currently plays trumpet with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and the Ensemble Contrechamps, is a member of the Compagnie du Rossignol, and professor at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève and the NEOJIBA Academy in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil. He also gives master classes in Japan, Germany, Italy, France, Spain and Belgium.
